Official public places require neutral architecture. The private aspects of life lie behind, or, take place in front of closed doors. Communication happens on a formal level through application forms, official signs and pictograms denoting departments and personnel. Pictograms provide help in an emergency.
In this space of rarely consciously noticed sign systems, Sabine Laidig has inserted a secondary system of order, which makes itself noticeable only in a subversive way.

In order not to be perceived as an object the meander consisting of 12 parts in light-green colour was directly painted onto the white wall.

The logic mathematics dictated its course. Coincidental constellations occur, for example with an elevator, a door sign, a fire extinguisher. Unimpressed by its surrounding the secret sign language draws attention to itself through enigmatic paradox. It is the unpredictability in the deviation from the habitual order, which is irritating. Officially recognised signs are part of a system of norms and do not allow for associations.

They represent clear statements inform quickly and reliably and do not communicate on various levels with their surrounding. In direct combination with the abstract meandering system an unintentional comic effect results at times.

This seems to question established principles of order and underlines the existing dichotomy between art and life.
